The new foster kid, Aidan, isn't helping any. Mr. Perfect seems to fit in no matter what, making her feel even more pathetic. But when his affections turn to her, Bryn finds him hard to resist. Impossible actually. A mystery himself, Aidan disappears, leaving behind a broken heart and a mysterious book that suggests Bryn might not be entirely human. Bryn stands at the threshold of a journey of discovery. Will destiny help her find herself, find her purpose and her place in a world in which she'd never belonged?

"That day I knew for sure. I'd lost control of my tears then. They fell in huge, mocking drops. I stared at Joshua through those bitter tears, my heart missing beats as I tried to remember to breathe. I finally knew what the glow meant. I was a freak and Joshua was going to die."

With her boyfriend stuck in Hel and the taunting laughter of Loki still ringing in her ears, she struggles to concentrate on her training and duties in Odin's realm. The last thing she expects or wants is more adventure—but then treachery, a shocking abduction and a chilling discovery send her forth on another perilous, globe-hopping mission.

In the exciting sequel to DEAD RADIANCE, Bryn encounters dwarfs and dragons, new friends and old foes—but the worst enemy of all may be the person she trusts most!

EXCERPT:

“For a shadow of a second, I stared into his eyes, shocked, horrified he'd do such a thing to me. A thousand fears filtered through my frigid brain. Was he in cahoots with Loki? Or was he Freya's dog all along?
It took an eternity for him to blink. Even longer for me to blink.
Then Fenrir pushed me and I fell off the cliff, into pure white oblivion.”

Struggling to accept the loss of her wings, Bryn's not sure if she can be a real Valkyrie anymore. But when a mysterious prophecy claims she will be the reason the All-Father dies, she is determined to ensure the prediction will not come to pass.

A visit to the three fates who live beneath the great Tree of life, sends Bryn racing against time to find the missing Heimdall and his horn. EXCERPT:

They’d taken my wings.
A sob caught in my throat. I desperately wanted to cry out but no sound escaped my lips. I struggled to take the next breath and for one hysterical moment I feared I'd be unable to perform the simple action."

REVIEWS:

This book was so awesome! I have not read a Valkyrie book before and this was such a great one to start with. The book just flows along at a great pace. It's never boring, never slow. Dead Radiance is a great adventure that kept me riveted from start to finish. … Overall, Dead radiance is an awesome start to a series! I loved it!! One of my favorite books that I have read this year so far. It is well written, and the plot is great! I cannot wait to find out what will happen next! I need to read the next book asap.          Michelle – www.bookbriefs.blogspot.com

The plot was also excellent. The story line, how it came about, what she learned about herself, there was always something going on, finding out new things and facing challenges, I was never bored – the pacing was great and it was jam packed with information on the mythology involved. This is one of those books where you can tell the author has put a huge amount of effort and research into combining all the elements that have gone into making this story believable and educating the reader in Norse mythology backing it up with evidence all the way.
…  It takes you through times of happiness, hope, love, sorrow, faith, despair, determination – a real emotional rollercoaster that had mine all over the place and my heart beating in time to theirs as if I was going through it with them, I was that involved. . .                              Melanie  - www.bookpassionforlife.blogspot.com

Bryn is a character who grabs hold of you from the first page. TG Ayer has created an unforgettable heroine in the young Bryn, a heroine that girls can look up to, women can respect, boys can think her kick-ass and men can want a woman that strong at their side. This is no fragile young girl. This is a warrior. …  Blending mythology, fantasy, poetic prose and the contemporary, TG Ayer has cemented her reputation as a true Storyteller in this magical debut book and a name to be watched in the world of YA fiction. I dare you to not want to read every one of this storyteller's books. TG Ayer is a name you will remember. Bryn's story is one you will not forget. Move over vampires. Move over angels. The Valkyrie have arrived.                                                     Kim – www.Goodreads.com

I LOVED this book, the debut from T.G. Ayer. …  Ayer has done an amazing job with not only the accuracy of the myth, but with the development of her MC, Bryn. A teen abandoned to a life as a foster kid, Bryn is real and told in a sharply accurate emotional voice. … Ayer will have you from the very first chapter and you'll not be able to stop until the book is done. Great debut, looking forward to the sequel!                  Patti Larsen – Author Hayle Coven series www.pattilarsen.com

"Having never read anything by T. G Ayer before, I was unsure what to expect from DEAD RADIANCE. I sure didn't expect the impact it would have on me.
Tee is an amazing author. I love the way she describes everything so beautifully and explains things so fully you feel as though you are actually a part of the story. She weaves a spell on you so that you get sucked in from the first word - with a fast-paced, well plotted story where myth and real life collide - a beautiful debut novel by an author you can expect many more amazing things from."

Sick of vampires and angels? Why not try Dead Radiance with VALKYRIES, and Norse mythology … Meet Bryn, the kick ass leading lady in this debut novel from NZ/South African writer T.G Ayer… This is a strong first release, and a great start to a series exploring new territory. If you are looking for something new, definitely check this novel out.         J.C. Hart – www.theothersideofthepage.wordpress.com

"Wow... This book is a wow factor book. I was mesmerized by the story not only did this author have a well written story, but she impressed me with her knowledge of Norse mythology(very impressed especially since I'm Norse Witch...). This is a modern twist to the Valkyrie and the Gods of Asgard. I loved, loved, loved it.... Bryn Hallbrook being orphaned after her father dies and placed in an orphanage where she must hide her gift to herself a gift or a curse as she would say that lets her see a glow around those who are going to die. Until she meets Aiden and finds love until he abruptly takes off leaving her alone again. She is pushed into a world of Gods, Goddesses, jealousy and adventure. I love this story and I'm looking forward to book 2."

"I was enthralled from the first chapter and I had not read much before regarding Norse mythology though I had a basic understanding of their beliefs. It is a credit to the author that I couldn't put it down and read it to the end way into the wee hours of the morning. You felt for Bryn having grown up in the foster care system never feeling like she truly belonged and then to be thrust into a world that seemed like a fairytale would be hard to to deal with. Becoming a Valkyrie and dealing with the concept of reincarnation, true love and the meddling of Gods whose behaviour seemed to be infantile and treacherous at times makes this book hard to put down. There is a humdinger of a cliff hanger at the end and I will be anxiously waiting for the next book."       Nereidwww.amazon.com

"First, how about that cover?? Beautiful!! Okay, on to my thoughts. I really don't know much about mytholgy so I loved the fact that Dead Radiance is full of Valkyrie's, Warriors, and Norse Gods….

I look forward to the next book in this series. Ayer has done a great job introducing us to this new Norse world and all of the characters."

I read a lot and was having a "dry spell" on finding low priced, interesting books. I started reading this book, not expecting much. I then found out it was about teenagers and was upset because I thought it would be a dull young persons' book. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I completely enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to the next book. You will not find any hot sex in this book but you will find an interesting story…. It includes young love and love of family and friends. It includes evil and hate. It is definitely about adventure. …

This book is a mixture of modern times and Norse mythology. I found it very interesting. You laugh and you cry. I even looked up information on some of the myths while I read.                                                           Luv2read – www.amazon.com

I have been a writer from the time I was old enough to recognise that reading was a doorway into my imagination. Poetry was my first foray into the art of the written word. Books were my best friends, my escape, my haven. I am essentially a recluse but this part of my personality is impossible to practise given I have two teenage daughters, who are actually my friends, my tea-makers, my confidantes… I am blessed with a husband who has left me for golf. It’s a fair trade as I have left him for writing. We are both passionate supporters of each other's loves – it works wonderfully…

My heart is currently broken in two. One half resides in South Africa where my old roots still remain, and my heart still longs for the endless beaches and the smell of moist soil after a summer downpour. My love for Ma Afrika will never fade. The other half of me has been transplanted to the Land of the Long White Cloud. The land of the Taniwha, beautiful Maraes, and volcanoes. The land of green, pure beauty that truly inspires. And because I am so torn between these two lands – I shall forever remain cross-eyed.
