Lisa was born in the UK and she moved around Europe with her military family before completing a BA (Hons) in English at the University of Leeds. Her home is now in Perth, Australia with her husband and three children. Lisa has written since she was a child - moving from writing poems and short stories aged nine to writing novels in the last few years. With the encouragement of her family and local writers group, Lisa found the confidence to share her latest paranormal romance series with the world.

In between running her home based craft supplies business, looking after her family, and writing, Lisa sometimes finds spare time to do other things. This often involves swapping her book worlds for gaming worlds. She even leaves the house occasionally, enjoying walks with her dog and time with her family. She loves all things from the Whedonverse and preferred vampires before they sparkled.

Lisa enjoys reading both classics and modern fiction. Her favorite genres are gothic, paranormal and urban fantasy, but she also enjoys contemporary new adult. She is currently working on more books in the Soul Ties series, and has other projects lined up waiting.

1. Do you see writing as a career?
Yes, I have a supportive family who will help me follow my dream. I’ve come a long way to go to make it a ‘career’ but just having the opportunity is fantastic.

2. Who or what is your inspiration?
A few teachers inspired to develop my writing throughout my school life, both at primary and at high school. When I was a teen I wrote a ‘serial’ story and gave a chapter a week to my friends. I was inspired to write because I realized people enjoyed my stories.

3. Do you have any pets?
A Weimaraner named Tilly who is not the brightest of dogs.

4. Early bird or night owl?
Night owl.

5. Any tips for new writers?
Write. Every day. And read a lot too! The biggest challenge I faced was finishing a first draft rather than jumping to a new project. Focus on finishing something.

6. If you were a shoe, what kind would you be and why?
Probably a Dr Marten boot - I’m solid and reliable, will protect the people I love but don’t mess with me (lol).

7. If you could live in any movie, which would it be?
I’m not so big on movies but I’d love to live in the world of Buffy.

8. Are there scenes or people in your book that you took from your real life?
No! I’d be too scared to do that! The locations are inspired by places I visited in the UK.

9. If your book was made into a movie, who would you like to see play your characters?
This is tricky because I always find it hard picturing my characters as actors I know. I think Ava reminds me a little of Eliza Dushku (but she’d need to be taller and dye her hair!). Keir I’m not sure but I’ve been told the guy on the cover looks like Keegan Allen. Jack I imagine as a young Alex Pettyfer and I saw an actress called Clara Mamet who is an exact Dahlia match.

10. Do you use a playlist while you write and what is on it?
I can only write if there is no noise so I don’t listen while I’m writing. But when I’m in the process of creating books the music I listen to in the car etc might remind me of characters. For instance, when I was writing Soul Ties, I listened to the Arctic Monkeys a lot and the song ‘She’s Thunderstorms’ is Ava’s song. And for Torn Souls, the sequel due out later this year, the opening scene plus Jack and Dahlia’s relationships was inspired by the song ‘Catch’ by The Cure

Cool air blew Ava’s hair into her face as the door swung open. Her neck tingled; someone was standing behind her.
“Ava.”
Ava turned. Keir’s face was centimeters from hers. His eyes. Sucking her in like whirlpools - she wouldn’t let him.
“You got a hair cut,” she said, flicking her fingers toward his head.
“And yours is a different color.”
Memories of the night in the alley flew unbidden into Ava’s mind. Their bodies didn’t touch but electricity flowed from him, reddening her cheeks. Positive she saw a desire flicker across his eyes, Ava closed hers. Fuck. Make him move away. She breathed deeply, inadvertently inhaling his scent, sending more memories scattering across her mind and spreading the heat deep into her belly.
Keir’s mouth turned up at one corner, aware. “I knew you were listening. Dahlia didn’t.”
If he was expecting her to show surprise and yield he was wrong. “So what did you decide? I think I missed the crucial part, where you decided if you were going to get rid of me, or however Dahlia so delicately put it.”
“We didn’t decide anything, Ava.” He lifted an arm and set his palm on the wall behind her.
Dizziness crept up, her breathing came in shorter bursts, unsure of his intentions. His lips hovered close to hers, breath warm against her cheek.
“If you know who I am, why I came, why didn’t you kill me that night?” she said hoarsely.
Keir stepped back, pupils dilated. “You came to take my soul, correct?”
She squeezed her eyes shut. He knew the answer.
“You haven’t tried yet - why?” he asked.
Ava’s head scrambled through the fog to come up with a believable response. One which would keep her alive.
